Until the beginning of 2022 I always thought running was just not for me due to my persistent issues with shin splints. Then I decided to challenge myself and registered for a local half marathon, pretty soon I found my shins were no longer an issue. I practiced 10 weeks almost entirely on a treadmill and then ran a 1 hour 41 minutes half marathon, not bad for someone who never considered himself a runner. Then to challenge myself even more I decided to run my first marathon, a local gem, California International Marathon (CIM). On Dec 4th 2022 I ran my first marathon in 3 hour 15 minutes. Now I feel I have got myself into something special and would like to challenge myself to run at least one marathon a year, next up in this journey is one of the world major marathons, the Chicago Marathon.
For the Chicago marathon I am combining my passion for running with my passion for making the power of education available to everyone. In my personal life, education has transformed and helped me uplift the lives of people around me. So I’m running Chicago Marathon 2023 and fundraising for “Asha for Education”.
Charity navigator has awarded Asha for Education 4-star (highest rating) charity status on the combined scale of Financial score and Accountability & Transparency score.
Asha for Education is a fully volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit with 50+ chapters around the world whose mission is to catalyze socio-economic change in India through the education of underprivileged children.
