Education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world!
But it’s unfortunate that it’s not always affordable. Poverty should never be a reason to deprive a child of basic human rights to healthcare, education, and proper nutrition. As Swamy Vivekananda rightly said, “If the poor boy cannot come to education, education must go to him.” And that is absolutely possible if you and I can drive education to the underprivileged children in the rural areas of India through the Asha (meaning Hope) organization. Therefore, I’ve chosen to run my FIRST INTERNATIONAL MARATHON in Chicago on October 13, 2019, to raise funds for Asha for Education, a non-profit organization supporting education and basic needs of less privileged children.
How you can make a difference (a significant one!)?
Your valuable contribution will be routed to Asha Chennai Support A Child (SAC) program (https://chennai.ashanet.org/our-projects/). The program supports the education of rural South Indian children from families with income less than Rs. 150,000 or $2000 per year. Preference is given to girl students and students from single-parent families. In addition to education, the program supports other skill training to enhance employability of these children. Most students who have benefited from these scholarships have always topped in academics and extra-curricular activities. https://ashadocserver.s3.amazonaws.com/716_Scholorship2018-19List2.pdf gives you list of all students who receive support currently with a brief write up about each student. You can make a difference by steering a poor child’s life in the right direction with a little donation!
Goal: My goal is to raise $3000 before June 30, 2019, to support at least 10 students complete their college education and step up their economic status!
What should you do?
1). Click on the DONATE button and make your generous tax-deductible donation via card or PayPal (min. $50 can help a worthy child pay for a quarter but any amount is a good amount for a noble cause!).
2). Spread the word by sharing this link (https://chicago.ashanet.org/donation_profiles/yasmin-gulab/) with your friends and help us to get more donors. Don’t forget that the first few years of learning in one’s life has so much to do with how the rest of his life turns out!
Note: You may write to me at firstname.lastname@example.org for alternate methods of payment or if you need any other information.
Thanks in advance for your thoughtfulness and generosity!
P.S. If you sponsor me then I have no excuse to walk or to crawl and will run the entire 26.2 miles. So those of you who are worried that I won’t work for this donation don‛t have to worry! ☺ ☺ ☺
