Education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world!
But it’s unfortunate that it’s not always affordable. Poverty should never be a reason to deprive a child of basic human rights to healthcare, education, and proper nutrition. Income in the form of education could be one of the most effective remedies for deprivation. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Education makes people impossible to enslave – if you get your education, YOU get to control your destiny, not someone else. As Swamy Vivekananda rightly said,
“If the poor boy cannot come to education, education must go to him.” And that is absolutely possible if you and I can drive education to the underprivileged children in the rural areas of India through Asha (meaning Hope) for education.
Don’t forget that the first few years of learning in one’s life has so much to do with how the rest of his life turns out! We can make a difference by steering a poor child’s life in the right direction with a little donation!
I choose to do this by encouraging my friends and family to:
1. Donate the money they would invest for a birthday party towards paying the school fee for an underprivileged child.
2. Participate in the fitness training programs and events hosted by my small town running club (Nomadic Nilgiris Running Club, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, India)
3. Spread the word to our peers
4. Spare all those unplanned visits to the Spa and lifestyle stores to rather buy a school uniform or books for a deserving child.
