I have been given so many blessings throughout my life for which I am most grateful, and I want to take this opportunity to return a small portion of it by raising funds for Asha for Education, dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.
The CAUSE
Over the years, Asha For Education has succeeded in touching the lives of thousands of children through its various educational initiatives and projects. Although the primary focus is on education, Asha also addresses issues affecting human life such as health care, environmental concerns and women’s issues.
This is my 16th year with Team Asha and I plan to run the Chicago Marathon on October 12th, 2025 and a 100 miler later this year. I am constantly motivated year-after-year knowing that the funds I raise could mean the difference between education and poverty for underprivileged children.
Did you know that the cost of educating a child in India comes to as little as US$240 for a full year?
I am raising funds for Asha for Education, a completely volunteer driven non-profit organization striving to bring a change in the life of an underprivileged child in India through quality education.
In 2024, Asha SV empowered the education of nearly 35,000 underprivileged children in India by disbursing $527,399 across 23 projects. Since its founding in 1991, Asha for Education has disbursed over $65 million to more than 400 projects, creating educational opportunities for underprivileged children in India.

Asha for Education is among the top 1% of nonprofits in the USA which are rated 4-on-4 stars and received a near perfect score on Charity Navigator. Asha operates with a very minimum overhead. 97% of your donations go to benefit the education of underprivileged children in India.
Education in India comes with a lot of diverse issues. The problems in this sector, especially in under-served communities, need local solutions. Asha for Education works closely with multiple grass-root level projects in India striving to bring a change in the local communities. These projects include:
- Home and education for orphaned children,
- Improving the quality of education in government schools using innovative teaching-learning methods including technology
- Support for education of special needs children
- Care and education for children rescued from or at-risk of child trafficking
and more.
